Rigid or stretch? Read the label first.
What the fabric composition can tell you, and what it cannot.

“Denim” describes a family of fabrics, not one identical wearing experience. Check the composition label as well as the fit description before you buy.
Rigid denim
A pair made from 100% cotton usually has less built-in stretch than a fabric containing elastane. It can feel structured and become softer with wear. That does not mean an excessively tight pair will reliably grow into your size.
Stretch denim
Elastane or similar stretch fibres can add flexibility. The percentage alone does not tell you exactly how a pair will fit or recover its shape: the weave, construction and finish also matter. Try sitting, stepping up and bending in the pair.
Choose for your day
If you spend hours sitting, flexibility may be a priority. If you like a firmer silhouette, a more structured fabric may appeal. Neither is automatically better quality. Compare comfort, construction and the care instructions.
Care still matters
Follow the label on your particular jeans. Avoid treating heat as a reliable way to repair a loose waistband. If a pair has changed shape, wash and dry it as directed first, then reassess the fit.
